Unreal Engine 5 empowers artists to achieve unprecedented levels of detail and interactivity, and brings these capabilities within practical reach of teams of all sizes through highly productive tools and content libraries.

Join Technical Director of Graphics Brian Karis and Special Projects Art Director Jerome Platteaux (filmed in March 2020) for an in-depth look at “Lumen in the Land of Nanite” – a real-time demonstration running live on PlayStation 5 showcasing two new core technologies that will debut in UE5: Nanite virtualized micropolygon geometry, which frees artists to create as much geometric detail as the eye can see, and Lumen, a fully dynamic global illumination solution that immediately reacts to scene and light changes.

Also present in the demo are next-gen features already available in Unreal Engine 4.25, such as Niagara VFX improvements, Chaos physics and destruction, animation system enhancements, and audio advancements. Unreal Engine 4.25 also includes support for next-gen consoles.

  1. This looks so photo realistic. Excellent stuff here. Too bad it already plays better on pc. Lol smh. A laptop hit higher fps already than the ps5

  2. The "Unreal" Engine is simply overrated; the kind of graphics you see in their demos never seem to make it to the consoles because its next gen.The Unreal can"t even handle Ray Tracing like some of the others, and was anyone particularly impressed with the graphics in "The Outer Worlds"? Well me neither cause thats "Unreal" for you right there. The reason the "Unreal" powers a staggering amount of games from years gone by like "Bioshock" is mostly due to its user friendliness with introduction of "Blueprints" so even an Amateur can create Pro looking games. Its been 14 years now since "Epic" Studios impressed us with "Gears Of War" but it was colourless and during intense firefights with explosions"n smoke with locust drones I ofte could"nt distinguish between them and "Dom" and "Baird" so don"t get blown away by videos like this, wait for a playable product and THEN decide!

  3. It's cool but a few things are off, the water which looks very bad, it definitely needs to be worked on more, and bats and bugs looks a pit pixelated.

  4. This simulation we call reality is starting to catch up to itself in terms of quality. We will eventually give birth to the next simulation.

It's basically simulations all the way down.

  5. That's right bigots, women are now so empowered they can fly if they wish, and there is nothing you can do about it. I am however concerned with the lack of diversity in this demo, where are the trans statues?
